The job boards you will prioritize will depend greatly on the goal you are trying to accomplish.

Hiring writers is one of them, but you might want to hire the most high-quality and cost-effective writers. If that's the case, you might need to hire outside of the US.

Where we had the most success

We evaluated close to 2500 candidates in 18 months, hired over 90, and kept 45.

We did that by testing and posting on hundreds of job boards and doing hundreds of hours of LinkedIn outreach.

So far, our most successful channels have been:

  1. LinkedIn — You can find only the candidates you want to hire and reach out to them directly. We posted LinkedIn job ads as well and, again, only sent our Workello Job Ads to the ones we are certain we like. You can grab our LinkedIn outreach templates here.

  2. Remote Job Boards

  3. Freelance writer Facebook groups

We have compiled over 1300 job boards and Facebook groups you can use to find your next perfect writing candidate. You can check the list out here.

Where to start?

We recommend that you start with reading the article we published about how we built a 45-person content team in less than 2 years. You can find the article here or in the first entry of our big job board list.

The article will take you through the entire process and the setup we used to build a big content team that consistently delivers great results.

Once you go through the article, we recommend that you start with LinkedIn.

LinkedIn might be an obvious choice, but we had a lot of success there, both in posting job ads and reaching out to writers directly.

Premium job boards

Premium job boards on our list are popular remote work boards where many talented and experienced writers often find jobs.

Most of them are focused on English-speaking countries, primarily the US and the UK, so you can find native English speakers with plenty of writing experience here.

The Premium list also contains Indeed and Monster, both focused on the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

English-speaking countries

This section contains job boards AND Facebook groups for writers, editors, marketers, and generally anyone looking for a job but lives in an English-speaking country.

You will find some of the most popular job boards from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, as well as South Africa and Nigeria in this section.

This section contains all the job boards that are free to post on. But, just because they are free doesn't mean they don't have a lot of candidates ready to find new jobs.

The job boards from this section are mostly focused on English-speaking countries and Europe.

The Easy section is just that -- very easy to use!

You will find primarily Facebook groups and job boards that don't fall in the Premium category, and can't be officially described as English-speaking-countries-only. These are mostly global job boards, but the majority of the candidates do come from English-speaking regions of the world.

They are easy to post on because they use English as the operating language, so you won't have any trouble posting on them.

Nomads and expats

This section contains over 70 Facebook groups for digital nomads and expats in low-cost of living countries.

Many Americans choose to live abroad, and since their expenses are not as high as they were in the US, you will probably manage to find high-quality, experienced, native English speakers for a lower rate than you would in the US.

These Facebook groups are not primarily job-focused, but many expats and digital nomads find gigs, projects, and even full-time jobs in them, so posting in these groups will surely help you find great writing candidates.

One thing to bear in mind is the group rules. Carefully read the rules of each group and make sure to respect their schedules (many of these groups allow job postings only on specific days, or under specific posts posted by admins).

Low cost of living countries

By far the largest section on our list is reserved for low cost of living countries.

You will find both job boards and Facebook groups here, focused on countries outside of the typical English-speaking world.

However, if you're looking to hire high-quality, most affordable content writers, this is the section you will focus on the most.

Locations that worked for us include:

  1. Serbia -- Serbia is a small country in the Balkans with a very high English-speaking percentage of the population, especially among young people.

  2. Croatia -- Also a country in the Balkans with a high percentage of English speakers.

  3. The Philippines -- High percentage of English speakers

This list also contains a lot of Facebook groups for English teachers in Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world. These teachers are usually Americans or Brits that moved abroad and decided to teach English (primarily in South-East Asia).

The teaching jobs they have are usually low-paid and most of them would consider a career change and focus on writing. You probably won't find B2B writers in these groups, but the teachers are generally highly educated and understand the importance of using proper and clear language in communication.

High cost of living countries

This section contains job boards and Facebook groups focused primarily on European countries with a higher cost of living such as Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany, etc.

You can find plenty of fantastic candidates here, but they will not be the most affordable ones since they live in very developed countries.

Student jobs

Finally, we have a section dedicated to students looking for jobs, part-time jobs, or internships.

We found some amazing people primarily on Canadian student job portals.
